Who We Are

IWS is a non-profit, grassroots, feminist and gender equality seeking women’s organization dedicated to empowering newcomer, immigrant and refugee women and supporting their entire families to flourish in all aspects of Canadian society.

We do this by providing free programs, services and support that will help newcomer, immigrant, and refugee women and their families develop important language, education, employment and life skills so they can succeed in their new home.

In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, we acknowledge that we operate our offices in Regina and Saskatoon which are on Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 Territories, respectively. Treaty 4 is the traditional homelands of the Nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Metis Nation. Treaty 6 is the traditional homelands of the Cree, Dakota, Nakota, Saulteaux and the homeland of the Metis Nation. We pay our respects to the indigenous ancestors, commit to honouring the peace and friendship treaties that help enrich Saskatchewan lives, and reaffirm our relationship with one another.
