Events are another way IWS provides support to our newcomer women and their families, and everyone is always welcome to attend!
Each year, IWS holds the following annual events:
- International Women’s Day: Each year in March, the team comes together to celebrate women’s achievements and reinforce a commitment to gender quality.
- Volunteer Appreciation Day: This event is all about saying thank you to the dozens of volunteers who donate their time and energy to help us achieve our vision of a community where newcomer, immigrant and refugee women and their families are empowered to reach their full potential.
- Membership Celebration Day: Members provide us with input and feedback on our programs and services, and extend our reach into the community. This event is a chance to gather together to celebrate our members.
- Annual General Meeting: At our AGM, our Board of Directors meet with our team to present the accomplishments and victories experienced during the past year and discuss future opportunities and challenges. IWS members are invited to attend the AGM to voice their opinions and provide feedback
- Summer Open House: Our Open House provides an opportunity for our clients, members and other stakeholders to tour our facilities, interact with our teamn, and learn more about the programs and services we provide. Partner Events
IWS actively advocates for initiatives crucial in the successful settlement of newcomers in Canada, ensuring adherence to principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Therefore, IWS frequently participates in events hosted by our partners and other community groups. For some events, IWS is actively engaged in the event planning and delivery; for others, we are invited as guests.

Program-related events are designed for individuals who are currently participating in a specific IWS program and are another way we support our clients.
This includes events like:
- Job Fairs for Employment Training Program (ETP) students
