PrepUp
This is a 7-week foundational course designed to introduce the participants to rudimentary knowledge, work and self management skills for entry into the Canadian workforce.
About the Program
- You will participate in various activities and training to enhance your employability skills.
- You will develop your own transition plan to guide your journey in the Canadian job market.
- Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of their course.

Who Can Participate?
- Newcomer women ages 18 and up
- Any residency status ( Permanent Resident, Citizen, Visitor or Work Permit)
- English language proficiency levels of CLB 1 and 2
Common Questions About PrepUp
- If you are a woman who has never worked outside the home and/or who requires support with enhancing her confidence to re-enter the workforce, this program offers tailor made support to prepare you for the change.
- The ideal time to access the Prep-Up program is within the first few months of your arrival in Canada. This will allow you to use the program’s benefits as you start your journey in the Canadian workforce. However, the program is flexible and can accommodate women at various stages of their settlement process. If you’re unsure about the timing, our staff can assist in determining the best time for you to start.
- If you are an IWS client, there is no need to bring any additional documents; simply complete the form required to attend the program.
- If this is your first time receiving a service from IWS, you will need to register with us. Please bring your immigration status document. You will then be asked to fill out the forms specific to the program.
- During your appointment, you’ll meet with our staff who will introduce you to the program and its components.
- This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and learn about the resources available to you.
- After your appointment, you will officially begin the seven-week program, engaging in various activities and trainings to enhance your employability skills.
- You will work on developing your transition plan, which will guide your journey in the Canadian job market. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the program.
