Tech4Beginners
Digital skills are essential skills for daily living and job search in today’s economy. This program is a five-week skill building for newcomer women who wish to improve their basic computer skills, learn how to use social media platforms and the internet to enhance their socialization, communication and professional development opportunities.
About the Program
- This program offers a supportive environment that uses instructional lessons and practical hands-on activities to learn about:
- Fundamental computer functions
- Internet navigation
- Email communication
- Social media platforms
- How to enhance your digital literacy and ensure your online safety.
- Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of their course.
Please Note: IWS does not provide free assessments for academic enrollment in higher education institutions or for citizenship application
Who Can Participate?
- Newcomer women ages 18 and up
- Any residency status (Permanent Resident, Citizen, Visitor or Work Permit)
- English language proficiency levels of CLB 1 and 2

- If you are an IWS client, there is no need to bring any additional documents; simply complete the form required to attend the program.
- If this is your first time receiving a service from IWS, you will need to register with us. Please bring your immigration status document. You will then be asked to fill out the forms specific to the program.
- During your appointment, you’ll meet with our staff who will introduce you to the program and its components.
- This is a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and learn about the resources available to you.
- The program team will contact you for the program start date.
- Expect a blend of instructional lessons, practical hands-on activities, and opportunities for collaborative learning.
- Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate, recognizing your improved digital literacy.
