Common Questions About Women Connect
WomenConnect is designed to support newcomer women in their integration into Canadian society. It’s more than just a program; it’s a platform for sharing experiences, gaining knowledge, and building a community. Here, you can connect with others who are on similar journeys, learn from educational workshops, and participate in various activities. It empowers women by providing a space to both contribute and grow, helping to build confidence and a sense of belonging in your new environment.
The best time to join WomenConnect is whenever you feel ready after you arrive in Canada. Whether it’s shortly after arriving or a few months later, the program is designed to be accessible and beneficial at any stage of your settlement process.
If you are already a client of IWS, there’s no need to bring any additional documents; simply complete the form required for attending the program. However, if this is your first time receiving a service from IWS, please bring a valid form of identification or your immigration status document. These are necessary for your initial registration. After this step, you will be asked to fill out the forms specific to the program.
During your appointment, you’ll meet with our staff who will introduce you to the program and its components. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have and learn about the resources available to you.
After your initial appointment, you can start attending the weekly WomenConnect sessions scheduled on Fridays. These sessions include a variety of workshops on topics like health & well-being, independence, and empowerment, as well as fun and educational field trips. You can expect a mix of learning, socializing, and exploring new places, all contributing to your overall well-being and sense of community in Canada.
